How I hear from God
In the last 5-6 months, I’ve really been hearing from God. It’s so great. I’ve always heard short, quiet words from time to time, but I’ve learned that God has a lot to say.
All I do is read my devotional and Bible versus. I keep a journal, which is a Word document. It’s easier for me to type than write. You might like writing better, and that’s fine. I study the devotional, then record my thoughts or even just how the previous day went. Then, I just ask God what he wants me to know:
“God, is there anything you want me to know right now?”
And then I start typing this:
“Yes, Tony, I want you to know that…”
And then I wait and listen. I just start typing what I hear. I don’t concentrate a whole lot on the message, but I concentrate mainly on hearing and typing. I’ll then read it back once it’s done and continue spewing out my thoughts in the journal. Sometimes, he’s fast and it’s hard to keep up. Other times, it’s a little dimmer and more difficult. Pretty often, I hear something and wonder if it’s right or not, but then it’s silence and I kind of hear “write that” then I do and then it keeps going. It’s pretty interesting and fun.
The words I’ve gotten from God do line up with scripture. They’re also encouraging – like, super encouraging. I love it. It’s help me so much. I invite you to try this.
