Why doesn’t God just let everyone into Heaven?
God is just. That means he’s a perfect judge. He has to punish the murderer, right? If he doesn’t, he’s not a just judge. That’s why he just can’t let everyone into heaven. We ALL deserve to be separated from God because we can’t meet his holy standard of absolutely no sin.
So we all deserve hell and separation from God.
But, God is gracious, so he sent his perfect son, Jesus (Yeshua is his real name, kind of like “Joshua” but there was no “J” sound or character then) to be the perfect, blameless sacrifice on our behalf. He took our sin, and if we accept him, we trade our sin for his righteousness. God clothes us in “right.” Think of it as a legal transaction. There is no accusing voice from Heaven against you once you accept the free gift of salvation. God sees you as Jesus: sinless. That is why God’s grace is so amazing.
