Are Sermons You Hear in Church, Bad?

Yup – some of them. I might argue many of them… at least for me growing up.

Here’s my devotional for today. This is my second time through this book, which takes a year to go through. I love this one…

This is what I got trapped in, for so long. I tried to do good instead of just accepting what’s been done for me because that is what I heard. The sermons I’d hear most of my life did not focus on grace, but they focused on what I had to do. That’s futile. Works lead to death.

All you have to do is accept the free gift of salvation by believing in Jesus, which is God’s grace (graciousness). Just accept it. Believe it’s been done. Getting to Heaven is not based on your performance… at all. It’s what Jesus did. Do not add anything to it… nothing.

There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.
Romans 8:1-2 ESV

  • Wow, God. Thank you for your amazing grace!
  • Thank you that I am not guilty of anything.
  • Thank you that there is no condemnation for me.
