Salvation Does Not Depend on What You Do
TL;DR Summary: Believing you can lose salvation leads to fear and performance anxiety. Salvation relies on Christ's grip, not yours, ensuring grace and security. Embrace this truth for lasting peace and worship. Read the full eye-opening article for a deeper dive into this life-changing perspective.
Ooh, I saw this video and got it transcribed because… it’s gold, yo:
The most arrogant and self-righteous man in the world is the one who thinks he can lose his salvation.
If you get this wrong, you’re going to live the rest of your life terrified. Because if salvation rests on your grip on Christ instead of his grip on you, you’re going to spend your life panicked and performing instead of resting and worshiping.
Your weak grasp will become anxiety quickly. You’ll chase proof instead of grace.
When a man believes salvation can be lost, he’s calling Jesus a weak shepherd.
He’s saying that Jesus can save, but only as long as you don’t mess it up.
He’s saying that the cross was only half a payment.
He’s saying God’s promises are just empty words.
But Jesus says, “No one will snatch them out of my head.” And scripture says, “A false witness doesn’t just get prison. He perishes forever.”
So here’s the truth. If salvation could be lost, I’d lose it a thousand times before breakfast. And so would you. But salvation isn’t secured by our consistency. It’s secured by the cross of Christ. Not our performance, but his promise. Not our grip on him, his grip on us.
And when your grip slips, remember this: He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion.
And when you stumble, remember this: He is able to keep you from falling.
So let me ask you this in closing. Did you have anything to do with your first birth? Yeah, me neither. And just like John 3 says, you had nothing to do with you being born again.
So here’s the verdict in the highest court. If salvation could be lost, we’d all lose it, guaranteed. But the good news is this. We can’t. Because Christ is seated, having finished all of his work. We are kept by God’s power and he won’t lose one. Not now, not ever. Never.
Oh, snap!
This is one of the best versions of the helmet of salvation that I’ve ever heard. Wow. Read it again – seriously, read it again. I am. This is truth – not lies. It makes logical sense.
You are arrogant if you think you can lose your salvation because you think it depends on you.
What?! It doesn’t – it depends on what Jesus did.
Meditate on that. Believe it. Live it. Go forward being happy, not sad. Live in grace – God’s graciousness to you. This is difficult for us to understand. That’s why we need to mediate on it – a long time… until we actually get it. When I did, I had tears running from my face for weeks. Get there. I want to get back there. It’s amazing grace.
